Day one

We first “ji he” at about 7.30 where we were introduced to the ventures who would be taking us for our camp. We immediately had inspection and many patrols could be seen hurrying about here and there or doing push-ups. Many of the patrols had many mistakes and the ventures were issuing out different sort of punishments. We were later given food that is to be packed into our rucksack. The food was given according to the amount of people who is in the patrol. After a hard time trying to pack all the can food into our rucksacks, our rucksacks were very heavy and trying to get up with your rucksack was already very tough. We then had to run one round around the track with our rucksacks. Finally, our buses arrived. When we arrived at the jetty, we boarded the boats and they took us to pula ubin. We then had to hike to our campsite carrying all our equipment and our heavy rucksacks. When some of us could not catch up, we had to be in pumping position until the rest caught up. Some ventures were quite kind and helped those who could not carry their stuff. Finally, we arrived at our campsite and were ordered to clear up the leaves. Then we had to build basha tents. Unfortunately, the ground was made up of stones and our tent pegs were not stable. We then changed method of pitching and finally, the tents were up. We then had lunch. When lunch was completed, we played scavenger hunt. We were told to find items like coconut husks, life spiders, life crabs and so on. The harder to find the item, the more points you get. At about 4.30, the game ended and the points were calculated. Our next game was orienteering. We were supposed to go around the island and find the code which at the places that we were supposed to go. At last, the game ended and we prepared to cook dinner. After dinner when the sky was totally dark, we played zui zhong. It was very exciting as you could not see where u were going and thus makes it thrilling. Finally, the game ended, and all of us hiked back to our campsite and had supper. After supper, it was lights out

Day Two

Everyone woke up very early, as there was emergency evacuation. As many people were unaware that there was an evacuation, everyone had to do pumping. Finally, the ventures gave out instructions to “chai” our tents and pack our rucksacks. As we were unable to complete it in time, we had to pump again. Finally, everything was ready and we shifted campsite. On the way, many people could not keep up and as usual, we had to wait for them in pumping position. When we arrived at murai hut, we had to clear the campsite again. As this campsite was a lot bigger, we had to take a longer time to clear it. Next, we had to pitch our basha tents. That took quite a long time too as patrols were confused by where the entrance of the tent should be as the ventures kept on changing it. When everything was done, we were told to set up our gadgets and prepare for inspection while having breakfast. When the time was up, every patrol “dui xing”. During inspection, all the patrols had to pump, run, or do star jumps for the mistakes that they committed. We had lunch after that. After lunch, it was the game that everyone was waiting for. Challenge rally! Everyone was very excited, as it was one of the most fun games that we are going to play. We jogged to the swamp. Upon arriving there, the ventures ask us to take a patrol photo before going into the swamp. The swamp was now covered with a layer of water, which it didn’t had last year. It was very difficult to move and we all had quite a fun time. We were then had to go into pumping position in the mud and many other positions that made ourselves very dirty which is what the ventures wanted. We then played a game where one person from each patrol had to go into an area to find some ping-pong balls. It was very fun to see the patrols fighting over ping-pong balls. After a while, many people found ways of moving through the mud easily. Sadly the game had to end, and all of us on were quite sad. Next, we made our way to the beach to wash up. After our beauty pagans, who were very funny, we played water captains ball.

The troop was separated into two teams and finally, wolf to shark patrol won. Next we played this game where we were given a certain number, and when the ventures calls out that number, that person had to swim out and try to snatch the ball. After the game, we hiked back to our campsite and changed into our normal clothes. We then had dinner. After dinner, we had a mini voj, which was different from normal time. We had a fitness conditioning station where two patrols had to compete with each other. We had to compete in duck walk, shuttle run, standing board jump, pumping and so on. Our patrol drawed with wolf patrol. The next station was about identifying items that were in a pail. It was quite fun though. The 3^rd station was about trying to listen and identify where the other patrol was. The last station was to find clues in the darkness in the forest. Each patrol only had two torches.When all the events were completed, everyone gathered and we climbed mount poka. We climbed up to the 2^nd highest point and had supper there. Two patrols were to climb up to the peak at a time. Finally, the sec 3s had to be separated for solo night. The rest jogged back to the campsite and slept.

Day three

When the sec 1s and 2s woke up, we immediately had P.T. We ran from our campsite all the way into the jungle. At some point, when some of the scouts could not catch up, we had to wait for them in pumping position. After some time, we jogged back to our campsite and did jumping jacks, star jumps and pumping. We then had to run all the way to the beach and back again. When we arrived back at the campsite, the sec 3s were back. We then had breakfast while preparing inspection. During inspection, many patrols could be seen either running or pumping. Finally, it was over and we changed back into our p.t kit. We then had v.o.j. The patrols were not told the location of each station and many patrols could be seen running around trying to find their correct station. Our first station was first aid. We had to “save” to drowning people and do C.P.R. Our next station was a memory game. We had to guess where the cards that the venture asked. Our patrol did quite badly in it. The next station was the spider web. We had to go through a “spider web” that was made up of ropes and that we cannot touch the ropes. The 4^th station was orienteering. We had to navigate through the forest in search of clues left by the ventures. When the forth station was completed, we had lunch. After lunch, we continued to the 5^th station. It was pioneering. We had to build a structure to go over a certain height. Unfortunately, our patrol did quite badly. The next station was the chopping wood station. Patrols had to cut wood for the night’s campfire. The 2^nd last station was tree climbing. Patrols had to climb a tree using just a rope to climb it. Our whole patrol managed to climb the tree. The last station was equipment check station. We had to know the basic use of each of the equipment and answer some questions. After the last station, it was getting dark and the food Q.M went to prepare pizza, while two members of each patrol went to kill frog as part of our survival killing session. When everything was ready, we cook it. The ventures then tasted our food and gave us marks. The next event was campfire. All of us were very happy, as it was finally the time to enjoy the camp. The patrols presented their skit and finally it was time to sleep.

Day four.

We had to wake up early for emergency evacuation. Unfortunately, some people were still asleep. Finally when everyone was here, we jogged all the way to the jetty. At the jetty, we talked about the good and bad points, and the things that are needed to be improved. After everything, we jogged back to the campsite and “chai” all our tents and packed everything into our rucksacks. And made our way to the basketball court. We had then had breakfast over there. Finally, we took a boat back to the mainland. As our bus had not arrived yet, we sorted out our things and discussed about the camp. The bus came and took us back. Back at school, we had to wash our tents and axes before keeping them back. We had inspection again although this time, it doesn’t need to look need as the ventures were checking for missing items. We then again discussed about the good and bad points, and the things that are needed to be improved. Finally, we break camp.
